The construction of a treatment plant for solid waste started late 2000 and will most likely be finished by the end of June 2002. The plant is situated in the mountainside east of Almolonga, overlooking the village.

The plant has 6 principal areas: Unloading area with primary separation, classification area for detailed separation, storage area for classified materials, landfill, compost area and an administration building. All the sections are situated at different levels.

The plant needs a considerable machinery park to function according to the plans. If finances turn out according to the plan, the plant may be fully functional by the end of 2002. Pictures below are from April 2002.
